METRO MANILA FILM FESTIVAL (MMFF) is not without controversies.
This time around, the annual film festival is marred by the alleged ‘ticket swapping‘ when netizens cried foul for being given tickets of Vice Ganda and Coco Martin-starrer ‘Beauty and the Bestie‘ when in fact they watched Vic Sotto and AiAi Delas Alas’ film, ‘My Bebe Love.’
“My bebe love ang pinanood ko, Beauty and the Bestie yung nasa ticket ko… Hawhaw ganoon ba talaga yun?,” Twitter user Monica Mapalo posted on Twitter. Mapalo is just one of the fans of the hit tandem Aldub of actor Alden Richards and Dubsmash sensation turned actress, Maine Mendoza or Yaya Dub. Aldub is part of ‘My Bebe Love,’ one of the eight entries in MMFF 2015.
‘My Bebe Love’ director Jose Javier Reyes confirmed on Friday, December 25, the incidents.
Reyes posted on his Twitter account @DirekJoey, “Got word from producer: IT IS TRUE. Make sure that the title of the movie on YOUR ticket is what you want to watch.Beware of ticket swapping.”
The director added, “BEWARE OF TICKET-SWAPPING. Look at the title of the movie on your tickets. REPORT anomalies or take IG pictures and POST in social media.”
“Please be calm but cautious. More important, true happiness can only be obtained by sincere and honest actions. ALDUB NATION, be above this,” the director told fans.
Also on Twitter, SM Cinema (@sm_cinema) expressed apologies for the incident but later on deleted the said tweet. Its recent tweet reads:
“Regarding the ticket issue: We’ll be verifying the details with SM Cinema Bacoor first. Kindly wait for our update. Thank you.”
Update (December 26, 2015): MMFF has denied the existence of ticket swapping incident. Read story here.
