ASIA IS NOT SIMPLY the largest continent on the planet. It is also home to the most attractive and must-visit places such as Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. For many, the city is known for its high-rise buildings that beautifully break the clear skyline. It is also known for its shopping malls that offer great sales bargains. But if you think that the city is only as good as its flashy veneer, you definitely have not visited and explored the whole of Dubai.

Below are eight awesome reasons why you should include Dubai in your bucket list:

Bastakia is the Old Dubai because it represents the city during its early years. It has well-preserved limestone buildings that were once used as venue for trading textiles and pearls. One famous building is the Bastakia Quarter that was built in 19th century and served as a home for wealthy merchants from Persia. It has a wind-tower that provides natural air-conditioning to the building. So, you don’t have to worry about heat when you visit the place.

The creek is very significant to the growth of the city. More than 4,000 years ago, small villages grew on both sides of the creek. Today, it has the famous Dhow Wharfage located on the bank of the creek at the northern part of Al-Maktoum Bridge. There are still several dhows that are more than 100 years of age and are still being used until today. Riding any of them would surely be a one of a kind experience.

What makes Dubai Museum is the fact that it was built on a very historical place. So, you only don’t get to have a glimpse of Dubai’s past from the artifacts inside the museum but also from the building itself. The Al-Fahidi which houses the museum was built in 1787. The walls are built using lime and traditional coral-blocks.

Shopping is one activity that we don’t forget to do whenever we visit a place. At Dubai, the best place to shop is at Deira Souks where you can find a lot of items that would surely interest you. One great example is Turkish lamps shown in the image. Souk means “market”, so Deira is a place where markets of different products are found.

You can visit it with your partner or with the whole family and everyone will have a blast after walking under the Underwater Zoo. The aquarium, which houses 140 species of marine life, is located on Dubai Mall’s ground floor.

Burj al-Arab

Whenever Dubai is the topic of any conversation, Burj al-Arab is among the things that come first to mind. With its 321 meters height, it is the tallest hotel in the world. During the day, you can enjoy the view of the hotel while jogging along the shore of the Dubai coastline. At night, you can have an amazing experience of the colored and choreographed lighting show.

Undeniably, there are numerous things that make Dubai popular around the world. In terms of landmarks, the city has Burj Khalifa as its landmark building. With a height of 829.8 meters, it is now the tallest building on the planet. You should not miss its observation deck located on the 124th floor. On the deck, you will have a spectacular view of the city.
