This is a developing story that we are currently being pursue. We are still getting the facts behind Aldub Nation’s move to trend #BoycottCristyFermin Twitter in defense of Maine Mendoza, the other half of the Aldub tandem.
Aldub stands for Alden Richards and Yaya Dub, Mendoza’s character in the hit Kalye Serye on Eat Bulaga.
As of this posting, #BoycottCristyFermin is one of the trending topics on Twitter, and a lot of fans show dismayed over radio and TV host Cristy Fermin of TV5 Manila.
Update 1: Aldub Nation, the community of fans of Alden and Maine gets back on Fermin for her malicious comments on the famed tandem. Fermin reportedly said that the love team’s recent film, ‘Imagine You and Me‘ (movie review here) was a flop.
In reality however, the film earned over P21 million on its first day, the highest crossing Filipino film on its first day so far. It’s week-long earning in the Philippines was recorded at over P120 million, which is already considered a box office success.
Update 2: Alden went to Fermin’s birthday prior to that. In her column on Pilipino Star Ngayon, Fermin criticized her bashers for making a big deal our of Alden’s visit, and questioned Mendoza’s non-appearance on her birthday bash.
“Parang isda sa aquarium ngayon si Alden Richards. Palibhasa’y siya ang pinakasikat na lalaking personalidad ngayon, asahan nang lahat ng galaw niya’y tinititigan-minamarkahan, walang pinalalampas na aksiyon niya ang mga taong hindi maligaya sa tagumpay ng kanilang kapwa,” Fermin wrote.
Replying on people’s comments saying Alden should have not gone to see Fermin, the columnist wrote, “May krimen ba sa paglalaan ng panahon para sa mga taong kahit paano’y naging dahilan sa pagkatupad ng ating mga pangarap? Ang tawag du’n ay pagtanaw ng utang na loob at pagpapasalamat.”
“Magka-loveteam sila, oo, pero may kani-kanya pa rin silang buhay. Walang pakialaman, walang sakalan, kapag wala nang mga camera ay may kani-kanyang prayoridad silang dapat gawin,” she added.
It can be recalled that three months ago, a certain June Magdangal started a petition on change.org calling the Movie Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) and the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP) to suspend Cristy Fermin.
The petition reads as follows:
“This petition is to protect celebrities from all the fabricated stories Cristy Fermin broadcasts in her radio station which is aired on TV 5. She continues to violate the KBP ethics code by giving ‘false and unverified’ facts about celebrities such as Daniel Padilla and Maine Mendoza. Her comments about her celebrities are false and libelous. This is not the first time a petition is made to have her suspended. She has committed libelous remarks about other celebrities on which she has been sued for libel. We trust that your institutions will monitor media individuals who are expected to act accordingly.”
As of our first update, the petition has around 3,200 signatories but still counting as the issue resurfaces on social media today.
We are still checking on facts. Updating this post.
