PHILIPPINES’ NELDA IBE fell short to winning the Miss Globe 2017 crown yet she gracefully placed first runner-up at the recently-concluded pageant in Tirana, Albania on Friday, November 3.
The 24-year old beauty is known in the Philippines as “The Pilot Queen” as she’s a cadet pilot for a local airline. Ibe finished behind Vietnamese beauty Khanh Ngan.
“It was an honor and privileged to represent you my beloved country, The Philippines!,” the beauty queen shared on Instagram after the pageant.
Elena Latypova of Siberia, Alessia Çoku of Albania, and Simone Heijligers of Cape Verde completed the Top 5.
Ibe follows Nichole Manalo’s third runner-up finish in 2016. The Philippines has one Miss Globe crown so far. It was in 2015 when Filipina beauty Anne Lorraine Colis won the Miss Globe crown.
“Nelda showed grace and elegance befitting a proud Filipina, making her a true inspiration to women all over the world,” Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc chair Stella Araneta said in a congratulatory statement.
Ibe continues the winning streak for the Philippines as in late October, fellow Binibining Pilipinas beauty Elizabeth Clenci finished second runner-up at Miss Grand International held in Vietnam.
Binibining Pilipinas 2017 winners are now ready for their respective competitions. Mariel De Leon is competing at the Miss International 2017 pageant in Japan in a fight for a back-to-back win for the Philippines after our very own Kylie Versoza took home the crown last year. The coronation night is set on November 14 in Tokyo.
Rachel Peters will be competing at the much-anticipated Miss Universe 2017 pageant to be held in Las Vegas, Nevada in the United States on November 26.
UPDATE: Meanwhile, in two separate pageants held over the weekend, Filipina beauty Karen Ibasco was crowned Miss Earth 2017 in Manila, while Winwyn Marquez bagged the first ever Reina Hispanoamericana crown for the Philippines in Bolivia. Congrats, ladies!
