Escape Gets Sweeter at Bintan Lagoon Resort

BINTAN, INDONESIA – Like Love, an escape to this beautiful island province’s integrated island resort is sweeter the second time around.

It never felt true until our second visit. Well, visiting Singapore was never the same again since we discovered Bintan Lagoon Resort a few years back. Coming here is, and will always be part of the itinerary.

We didn’t believe an experience when repeated would be this full of awesomeness. Not until we felt the sands from the shores as we walked along the beach early this morning. Not until we heard the waves sang a song of love. Not until we felt the sunshine got through our skin. Not until Mother nature smiled back when I whispered “I love being here.”

Though the typical love affair is far from becoming the subject of this post, to discuss a deeper kind of love, experience-based, seems necessary. Yes, we are back at the majestic Bintan Lagoon Resort and it is a visit we’ve been looking forward to since the past months.

There was an unexplainable strong emotion from the first visit that urged us to revisit this beauty. Our feet were itching too much upon setting foot in Singapore a few days ago that a trip to this island was the only remedy.

Just an hour away from the land of the famous Merlion, down south, by the Pacific Ocean is this paradise anyone would instantly fall in love with.

The first time was an escape from the daily routines in Manila, fueled by the desire to see more of Asia, beyond the progressive beauty of Singapore. This time, it is about cultivating the newfound love.

These and more are a few reasons why we love BLR.

The Perfect Kitchen

BLR has the best chefs in town, if not the perfect kitchen. With its restaurants catering to every palette, guests have a lot of options when it comes to food choices.

There’s daily buffet at The Fiesta. The accommodation includes a daily breakfast. At night, The Fiesta transforms into a cozy dining lounge with musicians serenading the guests. There was this one night that the musicians sang a Filipino song upon learning that we’re from the Philippines. How sweet.

But it was when BLR opened ‘Chop Chop,’ its own version of Chinatown that made it a haven for Chinese food lovers. Who doesn’t love Chinese food anyway?

At Chop Chop, guests feel like dining on North Asian streets. Steamed and fried dumplings, noodles and rice to tasty stir frys and double boiled soups are among a must-try choices at this restaurant.

Then by the beachfront is Nelayan, the signature beachfront restaurant here that offers a variety of fantastic Indonesian cuisines. I would’t mind dining at Nelayan all the time. From the presentation to the service, and how great-tasting the foods are, there’s no reason you won’t love this restaurant.

The Outdoors

BLR is not your ordinary lover. Once in his/her embrace (depending on your gender preference), you would need to be as classy as s/he is. So just a tip. Learn golf fast.

That was first in my checklist this time as getting too attached with Bintan beaches the last time had its own disadvantages. One of which was not being able to enjoy other outdoor activities BLR offers.

Can’t pass this time. A classy lover needs a classy Golfer. *Grin*.

Golfer at Bintan Lagoon Resort

That’s not me but a golfer enjoying time at Bintan Lagoon Resort.

Golf offers a unique excitement. It maybe is viewed as a luxurious sport that caters to the royalties and the ruling elite, but in BLR, Golf is simply a way of life. And it is super fun. There have been a lot of golfers that flock BLR, and no one could blame them for that. If it is to based from our experience, s/he doesn’t disappoint. The fact is, golfers could easily snatch a good deal upon booking here. BLR is indeed the perfect place for anyone to play golf at. We tried impressing him/her by hitting the ball right. Let me believe we succeeded.

Then there’s Hunger Games. Katniss Everdeen. I mean, Archery.

While there are other places in this side of Asia that you could enjoy, BLR makes it sure that visitors hit the Bull’s eye.

We tried our hands at bows and arrows. While we’re not close to winning against Katniss anytime soon, being an archer for a day or two gave us that triumphant feeling. It is priceless.

Archery to the next level at BLR

We didn’t take it to this level but Jackson did. Katniss who? Jackson is the man!

If you are as spontaneous as we are, driving an ATV through the jungles of BLR would be more than just fun. We spent the whole afternoon traversing the trails. At the end of a tiring-yet-satisfying drive, there was the beautiful beach that await every thrill seeker.

Two thumbs up for that awesome ATV ride around Bintan wouldn’t be a good caption, I guess. But there I said it.

The sweat, the smell of this adventure seem to be strong potions that would fuel the adventure seeker in one, urging the inner self to do more. We forgot the busy life in the Metro. We found ourselves looking forward to what else this life could offer. We’re ecstatic.

The Pools

We wanted to freshen up our spirits, so after each day of fun activities, we found ourselves swimming in one of its large pools. In one occasion, we met with some Korean friends who are also having their best time on this island.

Finger heart is popular in Korea so together with these newfound friends, this photo. At BLR, night swimming almost always caps the day.

Love Gets Even Deeper

Complete with amenities, this 300-hectare resort has 410 rooms to offer guests. At the heart of it all, BLR is too beautiful visitors would have no choice but leave their only heart here without batting an eyelash.

Either it is the beautiful beaches, the vast lands covering the entire BLR, or the hospitality of its people, one has to experience it multiple times to be sure. One thing is certain though – one could always find comfort at BLR’s embrace.

Aside from the activities, palatable cuisines, and everything wonderful, guests are treated VIPs here. That’s one reason why we love it here.

Three days and two nights are not enough for a truly satisfying escape but BLR provided us another experience to keep in our hearts for years. Our love for him just got even deeper, and going back is neither only an option nor a promise. It is a need.

While this stay is super fun, this escape also gave us a time to pause. To reflect. So to hit the road once more.

Resting at BLR

Rest if you must, but don’t you quit!

As one of our favorite poems says:

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,

When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit-
Rest if you must, but don’t you quit.
Life is queer with its twists and turns,

As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a fellow turns about
When he might have won had he stuck it out.
Don’t give up though the pace seems slow –
You may succeed with another blow.

Till our next escapade. Seize the day, folks!
