Newest Kapamilya and Kapuso Shows to Watch Out For

The Kapuso and Kapamilya networks are woven into our daily lives. Their shows and stars keep us company almost as much as family and friends do, and we all have favorites we keep tuning in for, usually the ones starring our idols.

But like any serye enthusiast, we always want more, and the two biggest networks in the country rarely fail to deliver. Here are the upcoming Kapamilya and Kapuso shows we’re watching out for.

1. Captain Barbell (Kapamilya)

Nothing is official from ABS-CBN yet, but according to some sources, if the projected date holds, Captain Barbell will air against GMA’s Encantadia late this year. The lead role isn’t final either. Rumors point to Paulo Avelino, Enrique Gil, Gerald Anderson, or Coco Martin. Dreamscape Productions will most likely offer it to Coco, since every serye he makes earns high ratings, though another rumor says the part would go to Enrique Gil, since it’s Liza Soberano’s name that tops the poll for the TV version of Darna.

2. My Love From The Star (Kapuso)

Alden Richards for My Love from the Stars
Who didn’t fall in love with Matteo Do in this Koreanovela? The story deserves a Pinoy adaptation, and who better to play the part than the even more beloved Alden Richards? There’s no official release date yet, but this one is sure to be a hit. If the show pushes through, there’s no other partner we’d rather see opposite Alden than his very own Menggay, Maine Mendoza, in what would be her first TV show as a leading lady. It’s a romantic-comedy storyline with lovely leads, and the beloved AlDub just keeps getting bigger.

Originally, the plan was to pair Jennylyn Mercado with Alden, but given the popularity of Alden and Maine’s love team, that may not be a good idea for GMA. Fans can only hope that Maine’s talent camp, TAPE, will be kind enough to let her do the show.

3. Never Ever Say Goodbye (Kapamilya)

A TV remake of the 80’s hit movie Kastilyong Buhangin will heat up your primetime nights, with Jericho Rosales as Waldo and Arci Munoz as Aryann. It will be interesting to see a role first played by Nora Aunor taken on by one of today’s sexiest leading ladies. We can’t wait to see how the Kapamilya network adds twists and turns to the original screenplay, and it’ll be exciting to catch everybody’s girl crush Arci Munoz on screen again.

4. Sinungaling Mong Puso (Kapuso)

If ABS-CBN is reliving a Nora Aunor hit, GMA is answering with a famous Vilma Santos film, Sinungaling Mong Puso. The film was intense on the big screen, and the cast now, led by Rhian Ramos, Rafael Rosell, Kiko Estrada, Glydel Mercado, and Michael De Mesa, aims to make the TV version just as intense. This fiery Kapuso show premieres this coming Monday, July 18, on GMA’s Afternoon Prime.

5. The Greatest Love (Kapamilya)

It’s not Mother’s Day or even Mother’s Month, but we should always give our mothers credit for how they love and care for us every day. This upcoming story showcases a mother’s love that knows no boundaries, accepts every flaw, and chooses what’s best for her children despite every struggle and shortcoming. Award-winning actress Sylvia Sanchez stars as an imperfect mother who later develops an illness. Her children, played by Dimples Romana, Matt Evans, Aaron Villaflor, and Andi Eigenmann, carry hidden angst toward one another because of their interesting family setup. It premieres this month on Kapamilya Gold.

6. Encantadia (Kapuso)

Way back when we were younger, four Sang’gres with different powers lived in their kingdom, Encantadia, with their Inang Reyna, until mishaps began and had us all hooked on the plot. On Monday, July 18, Kylie Padilla as Amihan, Glaiza De Castro as Pirena, Gabbi Garcia as Alena, Sanya Lopez as Danaya, and Marian Rivera as Inang Reyna will relive that fantastic world we once lived in our dreams. Dingdong Dantes, Sunshine Dizon, Max Collins, Rocco Nacino, Christian Bautista, and John Arcilla will make special appearances. And who doesn’t miss Imao? Millennials who haven’t met him yet are about to, and you’ll love his character just as we did back in the day.

7. Till I Met You (Kapamilya)

Till I Met You Series 2016 Jadine
We can’t let this list pass without a JaDine project. After making us laugh, cry, and swoon over the now-defunct On The Wings Of Love, James Reid and Nadine Lustre are set to make us fall in love again with the Ultimate Hugot Director Antoinette Jadaone in their upcoming serye, due in September. According to the real-life couple, the plot was inspired by their true-to-life love story. The teaser was launched at their recent press conference confirming the much-awaited comeback in Primetime Bida. Oh, September, come now!

Isn’t this list full of shows we’d love to see soon? We’re drooling too. Which TV shows are you rooting for? Let us know in the comments below.
