ALDEN RICHARDS, dubbed the “Pambansang Bae,” and Maine Mendoza, who became popular as the dub smash queen “Yaya Dub,” have undeniably taken the world by storm through Eat Bulaga’s Kalyeserye segment. After winning the noontime ratings war, the phenomenal couple now dominates the advertising industry too, as the growing number of AlDub TV commercials shows.

#AlDubKoTo: The First AlDub TV Commercial

The record 26 million tweets for the hashtag #AlDubEBforLOVE during the September 6 episode of Kalyeserye were one of the major reasons giant brands such as McDonald’s Philippines took a huge interest in AlDub. Margot Torres, McDonald’s Philippines Senior Vice-President for Marketing, shared that the new product Chicken Fillet a la King exceeded the company’s target. Because of the #AlDubKoTo TV commercial, Torres said, sales expanded by 470%.

On the strength of that first commercial, a telecommunications firm signed them as endorsers. The Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT) sought the couple to endorse the rebranded Talk ‘N Text, now called TNT. After their first two AlDub endorsements succeeded, the couple seemed on their way to signing more contracts for major product and service brands.
