FILIPINOS WHO LOVE to laugh have something to look forward to every weekend starting May 28, when GMA Network airs its newest comedy game show, ‘Laff, Camera, Action!’
Following the success of Celebrity Bluff and Picture! Picture!, get ready to laugh out loud every Saturday afternoon with this show hosted by Betong Sumaya and Sheena Halili.
GMA said in a press statement handed to ElysPlanet.com that the weekly improvisational program showcases unscripted, unrehearsed performances from two groups of three performers each, drawn from comedic talents in television, stage, comedy bars, and even schools and universities. The show tests the performers’ improvisational skills, creating scenes and characters on the spot based on given scenarios.
Betong said he is very grateful to GMA for entrusting him with the show. “Natutuwa ako na pinagkatiwalaan ako ng GMA for this project. Sobra akong na-o-overwhelm and at the same time sobrang thankful. Siguradong matutuwa ang Kapuso viewers sa bagong programang ito na handog ng GMA,” he said.
For Halili, this is her very first hosting stint, and she is happy to offer her fans and supporters something new. “Na-excite ako and also, na-challenge rito sa panibagong project na binigay ng GMA sa akin. I’ve been in showbiz for more than a decade now and very thankful ako talaga. It’s my first hosting job. I can truly say that my showbiz career has blossomed in this network through the various roles that I have portrayed,” the actress said.

How the Game Works
Laff, Camera, Action! has three rounds. In Round 1, the two teams interpret two different scenarios, and each group must be creative with the limited number of props on the set. The competition heats up in Round 2, when a special guest performer joins each team in acting out two different scenarios, with no props provided. The third and final round is the ultimate test of creativity and improvisational comedy, as both teams perform the exact same scenario using the same set of props. The winners receive cash, trophies, and other special prizes.
A panel of three judges evaluates and scores the performances to determine the winning team: veteran comedy writer and director Caesar Cosme, comedienne and live performer Gladys Guevarra, and ace comedian Sef Cadayona.
Under the helm of Philip Lazaro, ‘Laff, Camera, Action!’ begins May 28 and airs every Saturday afternoon after Imbestigador on GMA.
