AS OF THIS WRITING, several fire trucks are headed toward SM Megamall and Shangri-La Plaza Mall in Mandaluyong, where fire has hit Building B of SM Megamall, currently under construction.

From a building a few hundred meters away, this writer can see the black smoke blanketing the area right now — though the phone camera doesn’t do it justice. Thanks to netizen Luisito Santos for the closer shot, posted by DZBB on Twitter.

As of 7:35 PM, the fire department has raised the blaze to a third alarm. Northbound motorists are advised to take the Shaw tunnel to avoid the traffic buildup near Megamall.

We’re hoping everyone is safe. The cause of the fire is still unknown. We’ll keep this post updated.
