Main Mendoza MMFF 2015

Maine Mendoza won her first acting award just six months after making it in the showbiz industry.

The Dubsmash sensation turned TV personality and now actress, Mendoza, popularly known as ‘Yaya Dub,’ just won her first major acting award at the Metro Manila Film Festival awards on December 27 for her role in ‘My Bebe Love.’

Surprised by the result, Mendoza took to Twitter to share her view of the win, anticipating bashing from netizens and moviegoers.

“Bago po ako i-bash ng sambayanan, mauuna na ako. Bakit ako? Pero maraming salamat po. Magandang umaga sa lahat!” Mendoza said on Twitter (@mainedcm).

In the movie, Mendoza plays Anna, the spoiled-brat daughter of Vic Sotto. She competed against Nova Villa and Iza Calzado in the category. She wasn’t able to receive her award personally, as she’s vacationing in Japan with her family.

‘My Bebe Love,’ which also stars her onscreen partner Alden Richards of AlDub, Sotto, and AiAi Delas Alas, currently leads the box office of MMFF 2015. The movie also won 3rd Best Picture and the Gat. Antonio Villegas Cultural Award.
