Jamie Casiño gave the Philippines its second international pageant crown in a matter of hours on August 30, 2026, capturing the Miss Equality World 2026 title in Bangkok, Thailand. Her victory came shortly after Bicolana beauty queen Margaritte “Marga” Briton made history in Bali, Indonesia as the inaugural Miss Interglobal. The back-to-back wins made for an unusually significant night in Philippine pageantry, with two Filipinas competing in two distinct international competitions in different countries and ending the evening as titleholders.
Casiño took the Miss Equality World crown after advancing through a final podium that saw Mexico’s Alanna Cordero Santillan finish as First Runner-Up and Vietnam’s Vi Ái Giang as Second Runner-Up. The Grand Finale was hosted by Mister International 2023 Kim Goodburn and Miss Universe 2025 First Runner-Up Veena Praveenar Singh, who guided the evening through its final presentations and crowning. The result gave the Philippines consecutive podium finishes in the competition, turning Mardy Mabalda’s First Runner-Up finish in 2025 into the country’s first Miss Equality World victory a year later.
Building the Case Before Finale Night
Casiño had already made one of the strongest statements of the competition before reaching the finale. On August 27, she won the Voice of Equality Challenge with a presentation focused on transgender empowerment and HIV awareness, finishing ahead of Thailand and Australia, who were named runners-up.
The distinction carried particular weight in a competition that places advocacy alongside the traditional elements of pageantry. Casiño entered the final with an established platform and a preliminary title that reflected the issues she had been highlighting throughout her campaign.
Several other delegates were also recognized for their performances during the preliminary activities. Canada’s Grezia Alvarado won Best in Talent Show, while Taiwan’s Meldy Huang was named Miss Congeniality. Brazil took the Miss Photogenic title and Laos received Miss Secret of 101, adding a collection of special awards to a competition that brought together delegates from across Asia, Europe, North America, and Latin America.
Turning a Runner-Up Finish Into a Crown
Casiño’s coronation also completes a two-year Philippine run at Miss Equality World.
In 2025, Australia’s Faye Valenciano won the title, making her the country’s first Miss Equality World queen. Mardy Mabalda of the Philippines finished First Runner-Up, while Brazil’s Isabelle Castro took Second Runner-Up.
Valenciano returned to the finale this year to close her reign, handing the title to Casiño after a year in which her victory had placed Australia at the center of the competition. For the Philippines, the change of crown marks a straightforward progression: Mabalda came within one place of the title in 2025, and Casiño completed the climb in 2026.
A New Chapter in Philippine Trans Pageantry
Casiño’s victory adds another title to the Philippines’ long record in international transgender pageantry.
Kevin Balot won Miss International Queen in 2012, followed by Trixie Maristela in 2015 and Fuschia Anne Ravena in 2022. In 2020, Mela Habijan became the inaugural Miss Trans Global titleholder, adding another international milestone to the country’s pageant history.
Miss Equality World belongs to a newer generation of competitions built explicitly around advocacy and transgender empowerment. Founded in Bali in 2022 by Indonesian advocate Gebby Vesta, the organization has developed its competition around equality, humanitarian work, leadership, and social impact, with Bangkok serving as its host city in recent editions.
The 2026 edition carried the theme “The Voice of Equality,” putting advocacy at the center of the competition. For Casiño, that focus aligned closely with the platform she brought to the stage, particularly her work around transgender empowerment and HIV awareness.
A Double Crown Night for the Philippines
Earlier that same evening, Briton gave Philippine pageant followers the first major international victory of the night. Competing in the inaugural Miss Interglobal pageant in Bali, she collected several preliminary distinctions before becoming the competition’s first titleholder.
Casiño’s victory hours later added another crown to the country’s tally, but the significance of the double win extends beyond the number of titles. Both competitions represent newer international platforms with identities that differ from the legacy franchises that have traditionally dominated the pageant calendar.
That expanding landscape has given Filipino candidates more opportunities to compete in organizations built around specific themes, communities, and advocacy platforms. The Philippines’ success across those competitions suggests that its international pageant presence is increasingly extending beyond the familiar names and formats.
