The Hunt: Roblox 20 Event Guide: Portals, UGC Rewards, and How to Unlock 20 Years of Games

The Hunt: Roblox 20

Roblox’s 20th-anniversary event runs through September 28, with a Hub, timed portals, and reward tiers tied to every year of the platform’s history.

The Hunt: Roblox 20 went live today and runs through September 28. Themed “The Classic Meets Mega Hunt,” the event centers on a Hub that leads players through portals to the single top-visited game from each year of Roblox’s history, in chronological order. Completing an experience unlocks a themed item of UGC — user-generated content, meaning it was designed by players and outside creators rather than by Roblox itself. Top performers earn exclusive UGC on top of the standard rewards.

How the Hunt Works

Players enter the Hub and move through portals representing each year of Roblox’s 20-year run in order. Each portal opens into that year’s top-visited game. Completing the experience earns a guaranteed themed item; ranking near the top of the leaderboard earns additional exclusive UGC. The structure is built to move players through Roblox’s back catalog rather than just its current top titles.

The Rest of the Anniversary Rollout

The Hunt is the last of several anniversary beats Roblox has rolled out this month. A limited-time “Classic Mode” visual theme — bringing back the original Roblox logo, colors, and font — became available to opt into starting September 8. New 20th-anniversary UGC items launched alongside it. The 2026 Roblox Innovation Awards wrapped up September 12, with the shooter game RIVALS taking Best Shooter and Best Studio (both credited to developer Nosniy Games) and Animal Hospital winning the People’s Choice and Builderman Award.

What Else Roblox Announced This Month

The anniversary events sit alongside a separate set of updates Roblox announced at RDC — the Roblox Developers Conference, the platform’s invite-only annual gathering for its developer and creator community — held in San Mateo, California.

Creators will soon be able to release their games as standalone apps across mobile, PC, and console. In-browser play is coming to Chrome by the end of the year, letting players launch a game directly from its details page with no install required.

Build, Roblox’s AI-powered, prompt-to-game tool, is expanding into public alpha in Singapore and Serbia after an earlier test in New Zealand. Creators have published roughly 9,000 games through it since launch, and 71% of those came from people who had never used Roblox Studio, the platform’s core development software, before.

Roblox Wallet, a financial account letting eligible creators earn and access funds in real currency, rolls out later this year to U.S. creators 18 and older, with a global expansion planned for next year. A connected Roblox Card follows in 2027. Creators using Wallet will be able to get paid daily.

Roblox also previewed 10 upcoming games across genres — tactical shooters, horror, racing, RPGs, and cozy sims — from creators in its Jumpstart and Incubator programs, and rolled out a new Moments tab for watch-to-play gameplay videos, now fully available in the U.S. An updated discovery-ranking system is meant to serve younger and older player bases differently.

Full details on all of it are posted on the Roblox Newsroom.
