Marian Rivera went home with a Best Actress honor for Balota, and Dennis Trillo went home with two trophies. Charlie Dizon, Aga Muhlach, Vilma Santos, Nadine Lustre and Kathryn Bernardo were among the other names on a list that read like a decade of Philippine cinema in one room.

The occasion was the 2026 Dekada Awards, a special edition of the Golden Screen Awards, which the Multi Media Press Society, Inc. (MMPRESS) had not given out in about ten years. MMPRESS, a Philippine entertainment press group formerly known as the Entertainment Press Society, Inc. (ENPRESS), held the ceremony on October 4, 2026, at 6:00 PM at the MMDA Auditorium in Pasig City.

Why “Dekada”

Dekada is the Filipino word for decade, and the awards use it literally. Instead of judging a single year’s films, MMPRESS honored actors, directors and producers who earned recognition at home and abroad over the past ten years, including at festivals such as Cannes, Venice and Tokyo.

The Honorees

The acting list runs long. Along with Rivera and Trillo, the honorees include Allen Dizon, LJ Reyes, Jaclyn Jose, Vilma Santos, Paolo Ballesteros, Hasmine Killip, Daniel Padilla, Joanne Ampil, Aga Muhlach, Nadine Lustre, Kathryn Bernardo, Judy Ann Santos, Elijah Canlas, Janine Gutierrez, Alessandra de Rossi, John Arcilla, Vince Tañada, Charlie Dizon, Max Eigenmann, Noel Trinidad, Maricel Soriano, Piolo Pascual and Charo Santos.

Three directors were named: Brillante Mendoza, Lav Diaz and Erik Matti. Diaz had already added to his festival record this year when he won the Brian Award at Venice, a story we covered in Lav Diaz Wins the Brian Award at Venice.

Three production companies were honored as well: Regal Entertainment, Viva Films and Star Cinema. The same three studios are behind three of the four entries announced so far for the 2026 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), which we break down in MMFF 2026 Has a Three-Year Box-Office Problem.

The Night’s Two Double-Takes

Trillo was the only honoree to take home two trophies, recognized for Green Bones and Felix Manalo. He also stars in the MMFF 2026 entry Amir, covered in Zig Dulay’s Amir Is Ricky Lee’s Latest Screenplay. On the sidelines of the ceremony, he also spoke to reporters about the controversy involving his wife, Jennylyn Mercado, and Patrick Garcia, which we have laid out in full in our guide to everything said so far.

Rivera accepted her award in person and dedicated it to everyone who believed in Balota. Dizon, honored for Third World Romance, posted on Instagram afterward about being “surrounded by so many talented and inspiring people.”

Familiar Names

Several honorees have been part of ElysPlanet’s film coverage this year. What We Don’t Know Yet

MMPRESS has not said whether the Golden Screen Awards will return to a regular annual schedule, or whether the Dekada format will repeat. The organizers have also not published how the honorees were chosen, which leaves open how the list will compare with the picks of other awarding bodies, such as the FAMAS, whose 2026 nominees we covered ahead of its October 27 ceremony.
