Almost Us is now streaming on Netflix Philippines as of today, September 3 — four months after it opened in theaters and quietly became one of 2026’s better-performing homegrown romances. JM Ibarra and Fyang Smith, the pairing fans call JMFyang, have also been showing up weekly on Prime Video this entire time, in a series most of their fans probably forgot to mention.

The Netflix Arrival

Almost Us was JM Ibarra and Fyang Smith’s first lead film role together, a Regal Entertainment and Project 8 Projects production directed by Dan Villegas. The premise is a deliberately familiar one — Ibarra plays RR, a young man in love with his best friend Janine (Smith), who’s busy chasing an entirely different crush played by Dustin Yu. The chemistry between the two leads carried it further than a familiar setup usually goes: the film opened May 6 to more than ₱5 million on its first day, and by its second week had crossed ₱23 million — numbers that outpaced expectations for a pairing that, two years earlier, was still living inside a Pinoy Big Brother house.

That’s where JMFyang actually started. Ibarra and Smith met as housemates on Pinoy Big Brother: Gen 11 in 2024, built an online following inside the show, and carried it out the door with them — guestings, a Cinemalaya credit, a Metro Manila Film Festival horror anthology, and now a Netflix-ready lead role two years into their public life as a team. The Netflix drop puts the same film in front of a much larger audience than the one that bought tickets back in May.

Still Airing on Prime, Too

Ibarra and Smith are also in the supporting cast of Love Is Never Gone, the Joshua Garcia and Ivana Alawi-led Prime Video series that’s been airing new episodes every Friday since it premiered on May 8. It’s part of the wave of Filipino-language content Prime Video has been building out with ABS-CBN and Dreamscape Entertainment — a Morocco-shot romance-thriller now streaming in more than 240 countries and territories — and JMFyang have quietly been part of its ensemble for the same four months Almost Us spent in theaters before its Netflix run began.

The leads belong to Garcia and Alawi; Ibarra and Smith are cast in supporting roles alongside Jameson Blake, Jane Oineza, and Dina Bonnevie. But it means the pairing hasn’t actually been off-screen since May — they’ve just been easier to miss inside someone else’s series than inside their own.

Where JMFyang Stands Now

Put the two together and what you get is a pairing that’s stayed working, on two different platforms, for the better part of a year without a single new casting announcement needed to keep them there. Almost Us streaming on Netflix gives their fandom a reason to revisit the film that made them a team; Love Is Never Gone gives that same fandom a reason to keep watching every Friday. Neither is a fresh development the way a new project would be.
