THE NEW SET of Misters of Filipinas has been named, following the much-awaited finals night at One Esplanade in Pasay City on Saturday, September 30.

They were chosen from 24 semifinalists, out of a sea of hunks who auditioned to become the Philippines’ next representatives at various international male pageants. Of the 24, only six walked away with titles — the standouts who outwitted and outperformed the rest.

After competing against each other in various categories such as Talent, Swimwear and Formal Wear, the contestants that emerged winners are the following:

Mister International Philippines 2017: Raven Renz Lansangan (Mabalacat, Pampanga)
Mister Supranational Philippines 2017: Yves Campos (FilComm of Hawaii)
Man of the World Philippines 2017: Clint Karklins Peralta (Camarines Sur)
Man of the Year Philippines 2017: Rubi Kust (FilComm of Germany)
Mister Ocean Philippines 2017: Carlo Pasion (Laoag City)
Mister Universe Tourism Philippines 2017: Ion Perez (Capas, Tarlac)
First Runner-Up: Jonathan Maniquis (San Jose, Del Monte, Bulacan)
Second Runner-Up: John Joseph Hipolito (FilComm of Italy)

Prior to the Finals

Before the winners were announced, we had our own bets — the hunks we believed had what it takes to compete internationally. Our top picks were Carlo Pasion (Laoag City), Yves Campos (Filipino Community of Hawaii), Jonathan Maniquis (San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan), Mark Mancenido (Teresa, Rizal), and Raven Renz Lansangan (Mabalacat, Pampanga). Two more favorites joined the list early on, both gorgeous in person: Ion Perez of Capas, Tarlac, and Vann Ramos of Cebu City.

Cebu City’s Vann Ramos is that guy next door but transforms whenever he is on stage.

Ion Perez of Capas, Tarlac has this unique machismo that makes him charming and loveable. He is set to make you love him as he struts the runway either with a coat and tie or almost naked. Believe me!

While other local pageants have produced awesome Filipino delegates to international competitions, no one came at par with the success of policeman Niel Perez who clinched the first Mister International title for the Philippines in 2014.

Niel maintains his celebrity status to this day, so it’s only natural to expect Misters of Filipinas to keep producing strong winners year after year, especially since no other local male pageant franchise has matched that success. The latest Filipino success story was Arnold Rajan Provido, who won second runner-up at Mister Planet 2017 — a franchise not owned by Misters of Filipinas.

Last year’s Misters of Filipinas winners were gorgeous, no question, but last year’s international competitions were among the toughest yet, and none of them brought a title home.

With that, we can only expect an even tougher competition this year, and we are hoping for our new set of winners to make the Filipino people proud.
