Ten months is a long time to hold a national sash and still not know what it was for. Back on October 22, 2025, six men were crowned at the Misters of Filipinas pageant, the flagship search run by Prime Events Productions Philippines Foundation Inc. (PEPPS) — an organization founded in February 2013 that produces pageants, fashion shows, and entertainment programming across the Philippines. The night’s headline winner was Oliver Eugen Kretz, the Puerto Princesa fitness model crowned Man of the World Philippines — and it took him another eight months to actually close the loop, winning the real international title this past June. Four of his fellow titleholders that same October evening got smaller headlines and longer waits — their actual international competitions were never going to happen in 2025 at all. Between September and November of this year, all four of them finally compete, in four different countries, inside a roughly ten-week stretch.

Two of those bets have already paid off, just not with the same currency. Jacob Gomez came home with a podium finish. Kristzan Delos Santos came home with his first international title, albeit regional, after two near-misses. Calix Esguerra and John Hipolito still have their own competitions ahead of them.

Jacob Gomez Is Chasing a Franchise the Philippines Has Never Won

Jacob Kier Gomez, a model from Tarlac Province, inherited the Mister Fitness Supermodel World Philippines title from 2024’s second runner-up in that same franchise. He heads to Vietnam from September 9 to 21 for Mister Fitness Supermodel World, an international physique-and-modeling competition — and the plain fact working in his favor is opportunity: the Philippines has never actually won this specific title. Every previous representative has come home short. Gomez isn’t walking into a program with a track record to defend or a legacy to live up to; he’s walking into one with a gap nobody’s closed yet, which is its own kind of pressure — there’s no cushion of past success to fall back on if the trip doesn’t go well, but there’s also no ceiling set by a predecessor to measure against.

Kristzan Delos Santos Is the One With Real Runway Experience

Of the four, Kristzan Karlo Delos Santos is the pageant veteran. The Cavite Province titleholder — competing as Top Model Universe Philippines in Türkiye from September 13 to 20 — has already stood on two other international stages and come home a runner-up both times: second place at the 2022 Mister Grand International, and second again at the 2023 Man Hot Star International. Top Model of Universe itself is a runway-and-modeling competition based out of Istanbul, now in its fifth year, judged more on presentation and commercial-model polish than the advocacy-and-platform format some of the other franchises lean on. Delos Santos has done this exact circuit twice before and come one placement short each time. Türkiye is his third real shot at closing that gap, and it’s the strongest character angle of the four — a guy with two near-misses on his résumé walking into a third stage that actually plays to what he’s good at.

Calix Esguerra Is the Only One Competing on Home Soil

Calix Kayden Esguerra, from Imus, Cavite, is the youngest of the group and the only one whose international competition is happening inside the Philippines rather than abroad. His title itself has changed since he won it: PEPPS crowned him Mister Teen of the Universe Philippines in October, but the franchise has since rebranded, and Esguerra now competes as Mister Teen of the Year at the international level, in Albay, Bicol, from October 24 to 31. A rebrand mid-reign isn’t unusual in male pageantry — franchises reposition themselves between cycles more often than casual pageant-watchers realize — but it does mean Esguerra’s own coronation-night title and his competition-night title are technically two different names for the same crown.

John Hipolito’s Path Here Was the Least Direct

John Nietzche Hipolito, from Bulacan Province, didn’t win a franchise title outright on coronation night — he finished first runner-up of the entire Misters of Filipinas 2025 pageant, the built-in fail-safe position tapped if any of the night’s actual titleholders can’t fulfill the role. That’s a different thing from losing a head-to-head inside one category: it’s an overall placement. That fail-safe status ended up mattering. Krishna Yasser Rodriguez and Juan Carlos “Jaycee” Lopez both went on to resign and get reassigned in the months that followed — a string of title reshuffling detailed further down. Rather than slot Hipolito into either man’s vacated title, PEPPS gave him something new instead: GentlemanX Next Male Supermodel, a brand-new competition — this November marks its inaugural edition — built around high-fashion photoshoots, runway rounds, and editorial shoots rather than the advocacy-platform format of an older franchise like Mister International. Hipolito heads to Bangkok from November 23 to 30 to represent the Philippines in that first-ever edition, which means there’s no prior national result to measure him against, and no prior Filipino result in the franchise either. He’s not chasing anyone’s shadow. He’s setting the first mark.

Where the Rest of the Class Landed

Kretz’s own path is the clearest proof of how long this pipeline runs. Crowned Man of the World Philippines domestically in Quezon City that October, he didn’t close the loop until June 6, 2026, at the Palacio de Maynila in Manila, where he beat 27 other contenders to become the first Filipino to actually win Man of the World — a title the country had chased since the pageant’s first edition in 2017.

The man with the closer parallel to Kretz is Marck Marasigan, who represented Batangas (Lipa City) at that same 2025 coronation without winning one of the night’s headline titles. He was later tapped to fill the Philippines’ international slot for Mister Celebrity International — and on December 21, 2025, in Kuala Lumpur, he won it outright, becoming the first Filipino to hold that crown. Two PEPPS products, two actual international wins, less than six months apart.

A third name belongs in that same “already won” column, even though he never came up in the four cases above. Rey John Paul Sabado represented Pangasinan at that same October 22, 2025 coronation and placed in the Top 10 — no franchise title, no fail-safe runner-up slot, nothing that would have flagged him for a follow-up piece. He built his own path anyway: on January 29, 2026, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, he won Mister Global Asian 2026 outright, the fourth edition of a regional pageant open to delegates from across Asia. Three PEPPS products from one class, three actual international wins — Kretz, Marasigan, and now Sabado, the one nobody was watching closely at the time.

The other two men from that October night have stories too tangled for a paragraph here — the kind that deserves its own spotlight rather than a few lines in a roundup. Rodriguez won Mister Celebrity International Philippines that same evening — then resigned the very next day, citing corruption allegations within the organization. Lopez won Mister Tourism Philippines that night, lost the assignment entirely when its international franchise shifted away from PEPPS, briefly inherited Rodriguez’s vacated Celebrity International title, resigned that one too in December, then resurfaced in February 2026 re-sashed as Mister Celebrity International Philippines 2026 — the national title now tied to the same crown Marasigan already won, with Lopez set to compete for it in Malaysia later this year.

That’s the actual shape of one PEPPS class, ten months out: three international wins already banked, two exits that didn’t go the way the sash implied, two more results now in — a podium finish for Gomez, a first international title for Delos Santos — and two men, Esguerra and Hipolito, still boarding flights to find out where they land.
