Angelica Lopez of Palawan is Reina Filipinas’ first-ever queen. The 25-year-old — previously Bb. Pilipinas International 2023, who represented the Philippines at Miss International 2024 without placing in the finals — was crowned Reina Filipinas Grand International 2026 tonight at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Pasay, also taking Best in Swimsuit along the way. She’ll carry the Philippines’ back-to-back Miss Grand International (MGI) streak into this October’s edition in India, where reigning titleholder Emma Mary Tiglao will crown her successor.
Joining her on stage as the two Reina Filipinas MGI All Stars titleholders: Anne Patricia Lorenzo Diaz of Manila, Miss International Queen Philippines 2025 — a separate franchise from Miss International, this one open to transgender competitors, where Diaz placed Top 6 at the Thailand finals — and Alexie Brooks of Iloilo City, the former winner of Miss Eco International in 2025, who also picked up Best Seller Awardee and Best in Evening Gown honors tonight. Both head to the second edition of MGI All Stars this December, where Colombia’s Vanessa Pulgarin defends the title she won in the format’s debut back in May.

Bragais now runs Reina Filipinas as president, with Tiglao serving as national director and MGI founder Nawat Itsaragrisil as executive partner — putting the reigning queen, the outgoing queen, and the franchise’s original architect all inside one new organization’s launch photo.
Twenty-One Candidates, and Judges Who’ve Actually Done This
Tonight’s Grand Coronation Night ran twenty-one candidates through the full pageant gauntlet, with the Philippines already holding a data point on how the newer All Stars format plays out: Gazini Ganados, Miss Universe Philippines 2019, finished Top 5 at the inaugural MGI All Stars in Bangkok this past May, the strongest showing of any Filipina in the field before bowing out to Colombia’s Vanessa Pulgarin, who won it outright.
Pulgarin sat on tonight’s judging panel — a rare case of a very recent international titleholder judging the format she just won, rather than a retired one reflecting on it years later. Ortega went into that competition with real momentum — a Top Model fast-track finish, strong pre-show rankings — and came out with no consolation international slot, unlike several finalists who placed below him. One theory that circulated afterward, never confirmed by the organization: that hosting Reina Filipinas’ own launch event back in June — while he was still an active Mister World Philippines candidate representing a rival organization’s franchise — may have cost him standing with ALV Pageant Circle, the group that still runs Mister World Philippines. Whether that’s the actual explanation or just fans connecting two dots that happened to be close together, Ortega ended up hosting the pageant some believe cost him a shot elsewhere.
Co-host Joy Barcoma, Miss Philippines Earth 2025, worked through a rockier exit from her own crown to get here. At the Miss Philippines Earth 2026 coronation this past June in Malitbog, Bukidnon, Barcoma wasn’t allowed to do the traditional farewell walk or personally crown her successor, Rina Andrea Delos Santos — a break from the standard pageant handoff, following what she’s described as an alleged falling-out with organizers Carousel Productions. She later said on “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” that she’d been told at the last minute not to bother flying to the venue at all. It’s the same venue that hosted Mister World Philippines 2026 just four days earlier, on a night that ran to a noticeably thinner crowd. Booking it again for a first-ever launch, so soon after, was its own quiet statement of confidence — one that paid off in a room that read considerably fuller tonight.
The Real Test Starts After Tonight
A first coronation night is the easy part, relatively speaking — a single evening, a fixed script, a room that shows up because it’s opening night and openings draw a crowd regardless of the brand behind them. Bragais has already said the quiet part out loud about what actually matters next: with the Philippines riding a genuine back-to-back MGI streak into this handoff, he’s said he’s hoping for a “back-to-back-to-back.” Lopez, for her part, is a fitting queen for that ambition — a candidate who already knows exactly what an unplaced finish at a major international pageant feels like, and is getting a second shot at converting that experience into something better. The real test for Reina Filipinas starts the moment she boards a plane for Miss Grand International this October. A brand-new pageant’s credibility isn’t built on how polished its debut looked, or on how cleanly it managed a franchise transition that clearly wasn’t fully clean — it’s built on whether the queen it just crowned can hold that streak against a field of countries whose pageant infrastructure has had decades, not one evening, to mature.
