SportsCenter Launches on ESPN5 in Philippines

Sports center on ESPN TV5

ESPN5, the long-term collaboration between TV5 and ESPN, will debut a daily Philippine edition of SportsCenter starting Sunday, December 17, right after the PBA. The iconic sports news and highlights show will run as a 30-minute daily program, produced live and exclusively by ESPN5 from TV5’s Manila studios, bringing Filipino fans the latest sports news from home and abroad, with daily content contributions from SportsCenter US.

In its signature fast-paced format, SportsCenter will cover the day’s biggest stories and the sports that matter most to Filipino fans, including PBA, NBA, American football, volleyball, and more.

Hosted by a rotating roster of some of the Philippines’ most popular sportscasters — Aaron Atayde, Lia Cruz, Magoo Marjon, and Amanda Fernandez — the show airs live on TV5 after the PBA and other primetime sports, seven days a week.

The hosts bring a mix of expertise and personality: seasoned broadcaster Lia Cruz brings over a decade covering major sporting events worldwide, including the NBA, FIBA, and the Olympics. Joining her is Magoo Marjon, one of the most recognized voices in PBA commentary, with 15 years of experience and a mainstay role as play-by-play anchor for TV5’s PBA and FIBA coverage.

Aaron Atayde brings his own wealth of sports knowledge — one of the most recognized voices on Philippine radio, with an 11-year career in college basketball play-by-play and hosting Sports5’s Sports 360. TV host, football club manager, and fitness facility owner Amanda Fernandez rounds out the team with her fitness and lifestyle expertise.

Speaking about the launch of SportsCenter in the Philippines, Vincent “Chot” Reyes, President of TV5 said, “We are excited to bring the iconic SportsCenter brand to the Filipino audience. As a die-hard viewer of this show, I truly believe that it is the definitive sports program on television. We at TV5 are honoured to be bringing SportsCenter Philippines to you as this is truly a milestone for local TV.”
Joyee Biswas, Head of Southeast Asia, ESPN said, “We are thrilled to be bringing SportsCenter to Filipino fans as part of ESPN 5. True to the DNA of SportsCenter, it is going to be a fun, dynamic and fast-paced show that will cover a wide range of sports and it reflects our focus on serving Filipino sports fans through the premier combination of local and global sports resources, expertise and coverage.”
