The Big Four, plus two — and possibly more. There are a lot of beauty pageants out there, and while we try to cover them all as they happen, this post zooms in on the Filipinas crowned domestically to carry the Philippine sash into this year’s major international pageants. We start with the four that make up our Big Four: Miss Universe, Miss International, Miss World, and Miss Earth. Then we add two more — the fast-rising Miss Grand International (via the new Reina Filipinas pipeline) and the recently concluded Miss Supranational — to make it a list of six. One title is already decided; five are still to be settled between now and November, and two of the host organizations haven’t locked their exact dates yet. Angelica Lopez Was Told She Wasn’t the Type. She’s About to Get a Second Chance to Prove It Anyway.
In October 2024, Angelica Lopez narrowly missed the semifinal cut at Miss International, finishing outside the Top 20. She didn’t get another crack at that specific pageant. What she got instead this August was a brand-new one: Reina Filipinas’ first-ever Grand International crown, and with it, a second international shot, this time at Miss Grand International in India this October, with the exact date still unannounced. Most coverage of her Aug. 7 win at the Newport Performing Arts Theater treated it as a launch-night story about a franchise that changed hands under complicated circumstances. Lanelle Aira Cajucom now holds a national crown. Now comes the hard part. On Friday night, August 14, inside the Robert B. Estrella Sr. Memorial Stadium in Rosales, Pangasinan, the Nueva Ecija representative was named Miss Pearl of the Orient Philippines 2026. Mariel Baltazar, the outgoing 2025 titleholder, crowned her. It was a tidy transfer of power for a pageant that is still young enough to be defining itself as it goes. Launched in 2024 by Oriental Beauty Philippines Charities Inc., Miss Pearl of the Orient Philippines has positioned itself around female leadership, cultural preservation and community service, with the motto Service Beyond the Crown. The organization was founded by pageant director Makoy Manlapaz of Gouldian Training & Events and JM Robles of JM Pageantry Innovations. But Miss Pearl is also becoming a pathway to a much bigger stage. Its inaugural winner, Krishan Pauline Alerre, represented the Philippines at Miss Aura International 2025 in Antalya, Türkiye, and won the international title. Katrina Anne Johnson Spent Two Years Being Told No Before Anyone Handed Her a Crown
Katrina Anne Johnson has thirteen dogs. Not adopted-on-a-whim, telegenic-puppy dogs — a mix of senior dogs, rescues from abuse and neglect, animals with special needs, one who gets around in a wheelchair. She’s a licensed pharmacist from Davao who spends her actual working hours dispensing precision, and outside of it, spends her time and money on the animals nobody else was going to take. That combination — clinical patience professionally, hard-earned patience personally — is the through-line of how she actually became a titleholder, and it’s a more interesting story than the one usually told about her. The short version most coverage runs with: Johnson won Binibining Pilipinas International 2025, becoming the first candidate from Davao to hold that specific crown, and she’s now bound for Miss International 2026 on Nov. 25 in Tokyo — one of six Filipinas carrying a national crown into an international final this year. Bea Millan-Windorski Wants the Philippines’ Fifth Crown. She Earned It at Luneta First.
On Tuesday, August 11, Bea Millan-Windorski sat for a soft-focus interview about self-care, on a stage built for someone else’s brand. It’s not the version of her that matters most. Months earlier, in late November 2025, she was standing in the crowd at Luneta Park, not on any stage, calling out government officials by name over illegal mining and deforestation she said were being allowed to slide — and that’s the story most coverage of her never got around to. The Aug. 11 event put her briefly across from Catriona Gray, the last Filipina to win Miss Universe, back in 2018 — a pairing pageant-watch accounts have been building toward for months, tracking every overlap between the two since Millan-Windorski first spoke publicly about meeting Gray and addressed the comparisons head-on rather than deflecting them. Mister Pilipinas Worldwide’s Kings Are Chasing Their Next Crown
Mister Pilipinas Worldwide (MPW) — the national franchise that sends Filipino male delegates to international pageants — has produced exactly two crowns in the past two years: Dom Corilla’s Mister Global win in Bangkok in October 2024, and Kirk Bondad’s Mister International win in 2025. That’s a genuinely small number for Philippine men’s pageantry, and this year MPW is sending five titleholders abroad to try to add to it, starting this September. Whether any of them actually bring one home is still an open question — but the closest thing to a rematch starts on September 26, when John Wayne Alba boards a flight to defend the exact crown Bondad won. Raven Lansangan is first out the door. The Kapampangan flight attendant leaves for Colombo, Sri Lanka on September 3, competing against 31 other delegates for the 24th edition of Manhunt International — one of the oldest male pageants in the world, running since 1993. In a Facebook post published Monday, Aug. 10, Rina Andrea delos Santos — Miss Philippines Earth 2026, crowned in June under the theme “Love in Action” — shared a long, warm account of a homecoming tour through her home province. She prayed at Our Lady of Piat. She toured a learning center in Tuguegarao. She explored Callao Cave with local tourist guides, talked sustainable tourism with Cagayan’s governor, visited a farm school in Amulung, did coastal and health outreach in her hometown of Ballesteros, and met with an Indigenous community in Gattaran. “We are ONE CAGAYAN,” she wrote. “Coming home wearing a crown, but I leave with an even greater purpose — to serve, to inspire, and to give back.” Here’s what the same province was posting through the same window, via the Cagayan Provincial Information Office, the provincial government’s official communications arm.
