The former love team is back for a February 2027 film, with Prats behind the camera. How they got here, and why Heart’s name now carries weight far beyond movies.
Heart Evangelista and John Prats share a birthday, February 14, a year apart. Their next film is aiming for that month. At a media conference on September 18, Sparkle, GMA Network’s talent management arm and Heart’s agency, confirmed that the former love team partners will reunite in a feature due in February 2027, with Prats directing as well as starring. Sparkle hinted at a Valentine’s week release, which would put the premiere on or near both their birthdays.
The event was held at Cornerstone Studios, the production company behind the project. The title is still under wraps. Angel Tomas wrote the script, Jeffrey Vadillo of Cornerstone Studios is executive producer, and filmmaker Irene Villamor is creative producer.
The Love Team That Came First
The pairing goes back to the early 2000s at ABS-CBN, when the two starred together on the youth show G-mik and became one of the network’s popular teen love teams. Their projects together included the 2003 anthology film My First Romance, where their segment ran alongside one starring John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo, and the family comedy Ang Tanging Ina. They were a couple off-camera as well. On Heart’s reality show Heart World, Prats confirmed that she was his first girlfriend.
Two Different Second Acts
Their careers went in opposite directions after that. Heart has been with GMA’s talent arm since 2008, where her work included the romantic comedy Juan Happy Love Story, and she has since built a fashion career that puts her in the front rows of Paris and Milan. Prats stayed with ABS-CBN, stepped back from acting after FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano in 2022, and remade himself as a director of music videos and concerts, starting with Moira Dela Torre’s “Malaya” video in 2017.
The reunion film will be his first full-length feature as a director. In a post marking the start of pre-production, he wrote that he had once thought his time in show business was winding down, and had never imagined directing a feature.

The Road Back
The reunion has been building for months. The two had lunch together in March. Prats then directed the music video for TJ Monterde’s “Teka Lang,” in which Heart appears in the final stretch as the grown-up version of his character’s childhood sweetheart, meeting him again on a bus 23 years after they were separated. Villamor directed that particular scene. Afterward, Prats thanked Heart publicly for saying yes, writing that he had never expected to work with her again.

What Heart Brings Beyond the Nostalgia
The film’s commercial pitch rests on two audiences. One is the viewers who grew up with the pair as teenagers. The other is the far larger following Heart has built since. She passed 10 million Instagram followers in 2022, and her reach in fashion is now measured by the industry’s own analytics firms.
Launchmetrics, which puts a dollar value on the media exposure a brand gets from a person’s posts and mentions (a figure called media impact value, or MIV), ranked her the top voice of Paris Men’s Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2026 in January, with $23.5 million in MIV. She was also its top celebrity at the Paris Haute Couture shows in July, at $7.5 million. The influencer platform Lefty named her among its top five key voices at the Milan womenswear shows for Fall/Winter 2026, the only Filipino on that list, and ranked her fifth at the Paris womenswear shows that followed, with $11.2 million in earned media value.
Those numbers explain why brands fly her to the shows. For a February love story built on a shared past, they also mean the film arrives with a lead whose audience extends well past the one that first knew her as half of a teen love team.
No title, supporting cast, or exact release date has been announced.
