Every new festival needs a word that isn’t “big.” Harana Music Festival 2026 picked “intimate” — and then, in the same breath, promised a lineup of more than ten major Original Pilipino Music (OPM) acts. Those two claims are in quiet tension with each other, and how that tension resolves on November 28 is the more interesting story than the poster itself.
An Acoustic Answer to Festival Fatigue
Harana is a new entry from EPIC Events, the organizers behind Aurora Music Festival and Maison Matcha, and it’s positioning itself as a deliberate counterpoint to the sprawling, multi-stage festival format that’s become the default in the Philippines. The pitch is acoustic-first: raw vocals, real instruments, and — per the festival’s own framing — performances built to feel personal rather than arena-scaled, even when the names on the bill are anything but small.
“Harana” itself is a Filipino courtship tradition — a suitor serenading someone, usually beneath a window, with nothing but a guitar and sincerity. Naming a festival after it is a specific bet: that stripped-down, unplugged versions of already-famous songs can carry more emotional weight than a full-production set does. It’s a smart instinct in a market where a lot of festival marketing has started to sound identical. Whether an event with this many marquee names actually delivers on “close” and “personal” once the gates open is the thing worth watching, not assuming.
The Lineup
Heading the bill is TJ Monterde, the singer-songwriter behind the OPM love-song staple “Palagi,” whose sold-out arena shows have made him one of the genre’s most bankable headliners — an odd-but-telling choice for a festival built around scaling things down. Joining him: Arthur Nery, Maki, Earl Augustin, Rob Daniel and Angela Ken, Nicole, Toneejay, Syd Hartha, Clara Benin, and A!ka.
That’s eleven acts across one bill, several of whom could headline a festival on their own. The lineup is the clearest evidence for either read of Harana’s premise: it’s either proof that “acoustic” and “massive” aren’t actually opposites, or a sign that a festival trying to sell itself as low-key is going to have to fight its own poster to stay that way.

EPIC Events isn’t a first-time organizer walking into this blind. Aurora Music Festival and Maison Matcha both carry the same underlying instinct — building an event around a specific mood or format rather than just stacking a generic lineup — so Harana reads less like a one-off experiment and more like the next entry in a deliberate house style. That context matters more than the press release lets on: it’s the difference between a random new festival hoping a big name papers over a thin concept, and an organizer with two prior formats already testing whether Manila’s festival crowd wants something quieter than the current default.
